The Supreme Court of New Jersey entertains appeals only if the Court grants leave to appeal from an interlocutory order, or grants certification from a final order, or determines that the appeal is one as-of-right.  An appeal is as-of-right only if it involves an appeal from the Appellate Division involving a substantial question arising under the State or Federal Constitution, involves an appeal from the Appellate Division in which there was a dissent in the Appellate Division, involves the imposition of the death penalty (currently, no death penalty in NJ), or in such cases "as are provided by law".
